Honorable Mention: Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Genre - Action-Sci-Fi
Notable Cast - Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Michael Bay (D)
Synopsis - Good robots realize there is a spaceship that crashed earlier on the moon and they go discover it's a bad robot.
What I think - While dialogue is not as cringe worthy as it's predecessors was, it also doesn't have real great moments. Laserbeak and John Malkovich are fun as was Spock's voice, but the design for the protagonist robot was uninspired. You do get to see the end of Megatron and Starscream - curious how they will do a #4 without all these characters.
Interesting fact - It was filmed in Chicago, when invading the city they attached cameras to real jumpers heads while diving off skyscrapers
How much did this movie make - 10 dollars to everyone in Mexico
70. Jackass 3
Genre - Documentary-Comedy
Notable Cast - Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and Bam Margera
Synopsis - Jackass returns with new stunts – featuring heights and wild animals
What I think - Fine sequel. I actually like it just as much as the other two, though it's really hard to judge these movies in terms of anything except entertainment. The big hand and the water-jet are two of more memorable ones. It even goes to different countries at points.
Interesting fact - First movie not endorsed by Miller due to them not wanting to trigger Steve-o's drinking
How much did this movie make - 57,000 months of a billboard sign
69. The Five-Year Engagement
Genre - Romantic-Comedy
Notable Cast - Jason Segel, Chris Pratt, Alison Brie
Synopsis - A couple drifts apart as their engagement lengthens.
What I think - Seems like a pretty long movie which is usually a disservice, but it pays off in the end.
Interesting fact - Almost all of the restaurant scenes are shot inside the MGM Grand Detroit.
How much did this movie make - 575,000 swing sets
68. John Carter (of Mars)
Genre - Action-Fantasy
Notable Cast - Taylor Kitsch, Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church
Synopsis - A civil war veteran finds himself on mars with super strength and gets involved in an interplanetary war.
What I think - It's all about expectations. If you know this movie has an unlimited budget, then you might not be so quick to find things that live up to those expectations. If you go in expecting a mediocre Disney movie then you will find some smashing things in this movie. Some of the plot is not straightforward, but there are some scenes which are memorable.
Interesting fact - Was in production for 79 years - longest running time frame for a movie
How much did this movie make - 3.7 million years of boat insurance
67. Austin Powers: Goldmember
Genre - Comedy
Notable Cast - Mike Myers, Beyoncé Knowles, Michael Caine
Synopsis - Austin is up against Dr. Evil, Mini-me and Goldmember who has kidnapped Austin's father.
What I think - Really fun ideas for a third movie, but just seems to get stale as the movie goes on. Outstanding performances for Myers and Caine and I like what they do with Seth Green's Scott.
Interesting fact - Tom Cruise, Kevin Spacey, Paltrow, DeVito, Spielberg and Britney Spears all make cameos in the opening scene
How much did this movie make - 9.7 million years of national forest access
66. Anger Management
Genre - Comedy
Notable Cast - Jack Nicholson, Adam Sandler, Marisa Tomei
Synopsis - A business man ends up in anger management with a permanent shrink with his own issues
What I think - Lively one with Jack and Adam playing off each other very well. Funny scenes with Woody Harrelson and Heather Graham. John Turturro and John C. Reilly are hilarious too. Even have a nice baseball scene at the end. And the singing, oh the singing.
Interesting fact - Buddy picks up a golf club and a baseball bat before choosing the baseball bat to smash the window of the Lexus. In 1994, Jack Nicholson was cited for smashing a man's window with a golf club in a bout of rage.
How much did this movie make - 11 and a half million basketballs
65. The Animatrix
Genre - Animated
Notable Cast - Wachowskis (D), Olivia d'Abo
Synopsis - Multiple unrelated animated Matrix spin-off stories set before Matrix Reloaded
What I think - All skillful stories. Some are obviously more engaging than others. There's enough of them though that any fan of the Matrix is likely to find something that they like. Personally I like the history of the machines rise though the track athlete pushing his limits was memorable as well.
Interesting fact - 9 separate artists have works here
How much did this movie make - 0 bowls of cheerios (D2V)
64. Robin Hood
Genre - Action Adventure
Notable Cast - Ridley Scott(D), Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett
Synopsis - Robin happens upon the dying Robert of Loxley, he promises to return the man's sword to his father
What I think - This was the second time I saw this and it was the directors cut. This was much better then when I saw it in the theater. It adds more of the 'Robin Hood' moments that you would expect and I think it adds to the movie in an exciting way. I still find the quick ending quite bad - he goes from war hero to outlaw in like 3 minutes. Not exactly a build up.
Interesting fact - Originally was supposed to be a tale with Robin Hood as the Villain and Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham
How much did this movie make - 107 years of library funding
63. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
Genre - Action Adventure
Notable Cast - David Warner
Synopsis - April uncovers a story about ooze which splinter reveals to be the turtles origin, but shredder gets his hands on it
What I think - Corny in lots of spots. Fun when Keno infiltrates the Foot Clan. Shredder does himself in way too easy. No Casey Jones who was one of the greatest things from the first movie. Also missed a chance at Bebop and Rocksteady.
Interesting fact - Due to backlash from parents over the dark and violent tone of the first movie, they decided not to allow the turtles to use their weapons for the whole movie.
How much did this movie make - 5 and a half million tickets to the circus
62. Hancock
Genre - Action-Fantasy
Notable Cast - Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman
Synopsis - A superhero tries to clean up his act and gets some surprises along the way
What I think - Tale of two movies, first half is awesome but does a 360 and gets bad when a certain character comes along. Admirable one for Will Smith which has a nice ending and leaves room open for a sequel. There's also a deleted scene I just can't get out of my head.
Interesting fact - Hancock gets called an asshole 18 times
How much did this movie make - 21,000 bobsleds
61. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
Genre - Comedy
Notable Cast - Mike Myers, Heather Graham, Rob Lowe
Synopsis - Dr. Evil travels back in time to steal Austin's mojo. Austin teams up with another agent.
What I think - Productive sequel. The beginning has lots of energy - the naked dancing. The spaceship jokes are funny as are the Jerry Springer scenes. No one is terribly funny except Myers though. The mini me parts are entertaining.
Interesting fact - Took Myers 7 hours to get into the Fat Bastard suit.
How much did this movie make - 310 million cheap chess sets
