The Top 40 Basketball Movies - #3. Love & Basketball
Love & Basketball
Produced by Spike Lee, cause why wouldn't he. It feels like he is a part of every movie in the top 10. He likely thinks of it better than One on One but worse than He Got Game. Came out in 2000, but never feels dated or like a 90s movie. Tied for second highest Rotten Tomatoes Audience score. I would put this in the 7-8 range in terms of basketball movies. It qualifies as a good movie and story. It's a step above Glory Road and One on One and is in the same conversation as He Got Game and Coach Carter. It was the second movie I watched after thinking I was going to make a list after Finding Forrester. I think it would be a decent re-watch. Movie starts when the two main characters (Quincy and Monica) are kids and young Quincy is playing basketball with his friends when Monica comes over looking tomboyish and wants to play. They start 'going out' as kids and remain friends through high school when the story really kicks off. Both are good at basketball and we follow their relationship through Quincy's family woes, their college ball and eventually the professional leagues. I really enjoyed the ending. The movie doesn't have the Rom Com fluff. I feel we are rooting for them to get together which puts us more on Monica's side of the story. Omar Epps and Dennis Haysbert who plays Quincy's father, both played teammates in Major League 2. Sanaa Lathan I recognized from Alien vs Predator's main character. Epps and Lathan starred together in previously and were dating in real life. Tyra Banks plays a girlfriend. Regina Hall I know as well from Scary Movie. Omar was in Scream 2. Gabrielle Union who married Dwayne Wade and Harry Lennix are also stars. Lennix who stars in all sorts of things like The Matrix sequels and the Snyder DC movies. Lathan was picked by Lee for having reasonably good basketball skills after she went through extensive training. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, it was her first feature, but I don't think she did much after until recently when she directed The Old Guard and The Woman King.

50 Favorite Adult Swim Characters

I tried to get a good variety and yet be fair to what I like the most. I'm sure there are one I've missed and some that might be surprising but if it aired on Adult Swim - I can use it. I didn't use any characters from either Robot Chicken or Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! as they are basically clip shows and while good, the re-occurring characters aren't used enough. Also, it turns out H. Jon Benjamin is the voice for half these shows. 50. Chains     Fat Guy Stuck in Internet 49. Assy McGee    Assy McGee H. Jon Benjamin plays the mayor. 48. The Mayor    Tom Goes to the Mayor A Picture of Jeff Goldbloom instead of the Mayor, but this was by far the funniest thing on the show. 47. Inuyasha    Inuyasha 46. Satan     Lucy: The Daughter of the Devil Wears Bill Cosby sweaters and is always trying to kill his daughters boyfriend DJ Jesus. Yeah... One of the H. Jon Benjamin voices...

Vexing Devil Giving an opponent a choice is never a good idea. However I really feel like it's win win here in the aggressive deck. A 4/3 for one will almost always be worth a card. So the real question is - is it worth a card to deal 4 damage for a red? It's not quite Flame Slash good in a control deck, or as great top deck as Thunderous Wrath but better than Thunderbolt or Lava Axe . 19. Scute Mob Not a true one drop. But by turn six hopefully you are going get a hydra-like insect that will quickly get insanely huge if not dealt with. My biggest issue is that it doesn't have trample. It's still a great costed creature that can do some work if unchecked. There are lots of ways to give it Trample in Green not named Rancor . 18. Dragonmaster Outcast And yet another non-true o...
