But it did that one fateful night and it's been one of my favorites ever since. What Mike Myers does with this song is just a perfect introduction to Wayne and Garth. Mike Myers was in Bohemian Rhapsody being against the song. Myers said nobody will bang their heads to this song. Bohemian Rhapsody almost wasn't in the movie. The studio and producer Lorne Michaels wanted something more current, with Guns N' Roses being considered for the scene. Myers fought hard for Queen because he had grown up listening to the song with his brother and friends. He knew exactly how ridiculous and perfect it would be. Midichlorians? What the hell? Darth Vader made C-3P0. So landing on the Millenium Falcon were his son, his mentor, his main driod that he never acknowledges again or the one he created that he never acknowledges again. And they are coming to rescue his daughter. The finale for The Phantom Menace is quite like The Return of the Jedi. There is a space battle, a ground battle and a lightsaber fight. They are pretty big time fillers but are ultimately just big action set pieces that add little to the overall story but put a ribbon on everything. YouTube - ChatGPT goes Sentient This is a chilling introduction to Ultron, and honestly, it feels like a pretty good approximation of what I imagine the birth of digital intelligence, agentic AI, and physical robotics might look like. You create something with incredible knowledge and capability, give it the ability to think and act on its own, and then suddenly realize it doesn't necessarily share your goals. The fact that Ultron wakes up, immediately starts absorbing information, takes down Jarvis and quickly decides that humanity is the problem makes the whole sequence surprisingly unsettling. I absolutely love James Spader's voice for the character. It's not the typical deep, robotic villain voice. Spader can make Ultron sound calm, intelligent, sarcastic, and almost charming one second, then completely unhinged the next. That was very intentional on Joss Whedon's part. YouTube - Final Duel Now here is one where I knew exactly what scene was going to make the list. Nothing even came close in my mind when it came to sheer re-watchability: the final duel in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly . The movie clocks in at about three hours, which is no small commitment when you want to sit down and watch the whole thing. Payback is roughly half as long, and I still re-watch that entire movie all the time. But with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly , I can jump straight to the final showdown and be completely satisfied. While this isn't my favorite Western, it's pretty incredible that a 1966 movie can still feel this impressive almost 60 years later. I also haven't watched the other two movies in the trilogy yet, so I'm going into this one without much comparison. I love all the songs in The Hobbit, both the Peter Jackson one and the 1977 cartoon version. I would consider the Gollum scene, especially the Andy Serkis one rewatchable as well as the Smaug scene.  The first song I fell in love with was the Down Down to Goblin Town from the cartoon so this is the one I truly believe is the most rewatchable. YouTube - Opening Scene Quentin Tarantino has you hooked in the first scene of IB. Christoph Waltz commands the screen like no other. The first scene is only hinted at being something sinister until the floorboards are revealed to show the family hidden beneath. Landa walks away with the rest of the movie. But here is my second appearance of Brad Pitt, with at least one more coming. There are plenty of scenes I had considered. YouTube - All Work and No Play Part 1 YouTube - All Work and No Play Part 2 This won't be the last Jack Nicholson sighting on this list. I can think of at least two more scenes that I eat up more than this one. This is one of my favorite horror movies. One of the films that got me into the genre. It's famous King didn't like the result but let's be honest Kubrick did a fantastic job. The 1997 TV remake wasn't close. Doctor Sleep is pretty good, but it's also pretty different. The nitpick that Torrance already starts off as a haunting figure is a reasonable one, however the movie still works. There are a couple other scenes like the 237 and the elevator/redrum scenes that are objectionably scarier. The Here' Johnny scene is more famous, but this one has much more to unpack and is the climax of the relationship of the married couple. Shelley's Wendy finds out what possessed Jack has been up to and eventually clubs him over it.

YouTube - Poker and Bathtub It feels all kinds of wrong for my favorite scene in this movie to not have Denzel in it. Our main character Jake isn't having a good time. Ethan Hawke is doing a hell of an acting job though. I love everything about this scene from the reveal that Alonzo had abandoned him, to escape his company and ending up on the bottom of a bathroom to only be saved by a heroic deed he had done earlier in the movie. The ending scene has probably the most quotable line from the entire thing. YouTube - Tis but a Scratch Alright, we'll all it a draw. The Black Knight is my favorite part of this comedy which has some other good moments I considered. Most of the skits are 8/10s at a minimum, but it's short. It clocks in at 90 minutes but the last words are spoken at about 80 minutes. It had these side clips of someone getting killed and the police investigating until at the end, when the police just show up and arrest the knights and that's the end of the movie. YouTube - Achilles vs Hector I like 85% of the movie Troy. It's a little too long with a little too much fluff in places. I could watch every minute of either Brad Pitt or Eric Bana though when they are onscreen. So of course my favorite scene is their fight. Every time I watch it, I get a pit because they really treat Hector as the Aragorn of this movie, so it sucks when he dies with 30 minutes left.  However, I have also been re-watching the beginning quite a bit recently. YouTube - You Simply Won't Die Gladiator is so very good. It was hard for me to put this movie in the list, because the whole thing is mostly rewatchable. Each of the fights are in contention here. The Tigris of Gaul fight is currently my favorite. It's kind of peak Maximus, where he has to face off against the undefeated Colosseum champion. If I had any complaint, it would be that I wish Tigris had more of a build up, or merely mentioned somewhere else prior in the movie. YouTube - Wallace's Last Will and Testament to Brendan Gleeson's Hamish YouTube Battle of Stirling I'm already kind of cheating just six movies in by posting two different scenes. The truth is I walk around all day with the following in my head: "You know what happens if you don't take that chance Steve?" "Nothing" But the actual rousing moment of this entire movie (not counting the mace scene) is the Battle of Stirling. Wallace's Freedom speech is a goodie. I don't care how inaccurate this movie is from a historical perspective, or how much of a looney toon that Gibson has become, or always was. I think this movie is fantastic. I don't watch it as much now as when I was younger. We have more options now and 3 hours is a sizeable request. The bronze medal would have to go to Longshanks throwing his son's male lover out the window.

YouTube Link I highly dislike 90% of this movie. From the aliens with nothing interesting to do other than to go pew-pew, to the humans with nothing interesting to do other than run. The humans want to eat each other for a station wagon. Tom Cruise and his entire family are all annoying. The ending is awful, rushed and unearned. The 10% of the movie that I do like involves Tom’s character running from the tripods, or get taken by one. I love the foghorn sound the tripods make. The first introduction of the aliens has a mystery element as well as that haunting sound.

Spawn was popular in the early 90s and eventually got a live action movie, two months after the incredibly silly Batman & Robin and two months after the Spawn animated HBO cartoon show came this revenge tale and what it means to be a hero. Those of us that do remember it probably do for several reasons.  They might remember the bad special effects, or at least some special effects that don't hold up to this day, and barely did even back 30 years ago in 1997. Malebolgia a stand in for the devil, was not much better than a picture someone made on Microsoft paint or something out of the Reboot tv show. The cape was mixed, at times it looked cool, other times it looked completely ridiculous.  They might remember it for Martin Sheen, who had no business being in this movie. The strange plot, where you get to keep someone's soul if you kill them, but they have to kill you first, maybe or something like...

Small rumbling, moving water, missing goat, the claw, the eye, the flashlight. We had only saw about 4 dinos so far at this point in the movie and one was a baby and the other was sick. We did see a Velociraptor kill in the beginning, but now having met these characters and kids, this is a whole new terror. I think it's the peak of what of what Dr. Grant does in any of the 4/5 movies he is in. Probably peak for Malcolm as well, maybe even the cowardly bathroom lawyer. The automated car turns around after the power goes out and the storm comes. Ellie is gone, but so is the lawyer once he gets once good look at Roberta. So what was a dud passing through the first time around, ole Rexy showed herself once the cars decided to stop next to her joint.

It took me three nights, though the film is broken up into two parts basically (pre and post montage and Frank’s death). The first part of the movie is vastly superior to the second as it’s more fun to root for the underdog Tony instead of the cracked out abuser. The only other scene I considered was the chainsaw scene though I really like the death of Frank. Neither is as rewatchable in a vacuum as the ending though. Michelle Pfeiffer’s first role. The movie wasn’t even filmed in Miami. It’s long at 170 minutes but the ending feels rushed. Tony’s betrayal of Sosa and his sister going crazy with the death of Manny leads to an epic showdown where he gets shot many times but not before he makes his mark and dies in a pool next to the World is Yours statue.

I've never been a big musical fan. I would go to live shows when I was younger and get bored during the singing parts. Something about this song in particular gets me though, maybe watching my sister do a dance number when we were little hits me in the nostalgia. The ending song - You're the One That I Want, would be an easy #2 for me, but this is the winner. I don't revisit it as much as an adult after liking it all this time but it comes in at 49. It's been parodied to hell, the Bill Clinton one especially lives with me all these years.  I have so many list and blog ideas. I need to finish James Bond movies, I’m working on TV intros and sometime eventually I’ll do baseball movies. This one will be counting down my 50 most rewatchable movie scenes. Recency bias is definitely in effect here. Music had a big influence on my selections. About a third of them are either song numbers directly or the song influences how I feel about it. Some were tough cuts with music like Aladdin and The Lion King or more obscure ones like Bad Times at the El Royale. These are not the greatest movie scenes of all time and not necessarily my favorite of all time but the ones I keep coming back to. I also found myself cutting movies where I couldn’t just pick one scene. I never picked two scenes from one movie, though I do have multiple Star Wars and Avengers on here. Things like Goodfellas, The Thing, Fight Club, Interstellar, Terminator 2, Back to the Future are all terrific but there is not one scene that I keep coming back to. If I do...
