RE-drafting the Lions - 2007

Photobucket

The lions didn't blow the number two overall pick, most certainly making a good decision to pick Calvin Johnson. That being said, they had 3 number 2's which were all insane. All in all 8 picks, and only Calvin to make something of a career. Drew Stanton did win some games this year, but never justified that 43 overall selection.

2007 - Detroit Lions
Lions Pick:
1 - 2 - Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech

My pick:
7 Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma Minnesota Vikings

Also could of had:
3. Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin Cleveland Browns
4. Gaines Adams DE Clemson Tampa Bay Buccaneers
11. Patrick Willis ILB Mississippi San Francisco 49ers
12. Marshawn Lynch RB California Buffalo Bills
14. Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh New York Jets
23. Dwayne Bowe WR Louisiana State Kansas City Chiefs
24. Brandon Meriweather DB Miami (Fla.) New England Patriots
25. Jon Beason MLB Miami (Fla.) Carolina Panthers

Missed that Jamarcus Russell, whew! Again no problem with Calvin, but Peterson is the best thing we have seen since Barry(sorry Chris Johnson)

Round 2 -
Lions Pick:
2 - 43 - Drew Stanton QB Michigan State
2 - 58 - Ikaika Alama-Francis DE Hawaii
2 - 61 - Gerald Alexander FS Boise State

My picks:
46. LaMarr Woodley LB Michigan Pittsburgh Steelers
59. Ryan Kalil C USC Carolina Panthers
79. Mike Sims-Walker WR Central Florida Jacksonville Jaguars

Also could of had:
47. David Harris ILB Michigan New York Jets
44. Sidney Rice WR South Carolina Minnesota Vikings
51. Steve Smith WR USC New York Giants
63. Brandon Jackson RB Nebraska Green Bay Packers
73. Jacoby Jones WR Lane Houston Texans
78. James Jones WR San Jose State Green Bay Packers
100. Michael Bush RB Louisville Oakland Raiders

Lots of Wide Receivers taken here and you can make an argument for all of them. Especially if you didn't draft Calvin, you might need a Rice or Smith. LaMarr Woodley is the only player in NFL history to get 2 sacks in 4 straight playoff games. Sims Walker is inconsistent, but for a late 2nd rounder, he was a take.

Round 4 -
Lions Pick:
4 - 105 - A.J. Davis CB North Carolina State
4 - 117 - Manny Ramirez G Texas Tech

My picks:
116. Zak DeOssie LB Brown New York Giants
137. Le'Ron McClain FB Alabama Baltimore Ravens

Manny was decent? Davis did nothing. McClain was a good take here.

Round 5 -
Lions Pick:
5 - 158 - Johnny Baldwin LB Alabama A&M

My pick:
162 - Brent Celek TE Cincinnati Philadelphia Eagles

Also could of had:
174. Troy Smith QB Ohio State Baltimore Ravens
178. Nick Folk K Arizona Dallas Cowboys
193. Mason Crosby K Colorado Green Bay Packers
217. Tyler Thigpen QB Coastal Carolina Minnesota Vikings
228. DeShawn Wynn RB Florida Green Bay Packers
235. Chansi Stuckey WR Clemson New York Jets
244. Jason Snelling RB Virginia Atlanta Falcons
250. Ahmad Bradshaw RB Marshall New York Giants

Baldwin had a chance in the NFL, Celek looks like a good TE for a 5th rounder. So much talent here, especially the running backs.

Round 7 -
Lions Pick:
7 - 255 - Ramzee Robinson CB Alabama

My pick:
Pierre Thomas RB

Overall, not a good draft though Calvin has won us more games than any one other Lion the last few years.

50 Favorite Adult Swim Characters

I tried to get a good variety and yet be fair to what I like the most. I'm sure there are one I've missed and some that might be surprising but if it aired on Adult Swim - I can use it. I didn't use any characters from either Robot Chicken or Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! as they are basically clip shows and while good, the re-occurring characters aren't used enough. Also, it turns out H. Jon Benjamin is the voice for half these shows. 50. Chains     Fat Guy Stuck in Internet 49. Assy McGee    Assy McGee H. Jon Benjamin plays the mayor. 48. The Mayor    Tom Goes to the Mayor A Picture of Jeff Goldbloom instead of the Mayor, but this was by far the funniest thing on the show. 47. Inuyasha    Inuyasha 46. Satan     Lucy: The Daughter of the Devil Wears Bill Cosby sweaters and is always trying to kill his daughters boyfriend DJ Jesus. Yeah... One of the H. Jon Benjamin voices...

Vexing Devil Giving an opponent a choice is never a good idea. However I really feel like it's win win here in the aggressive deck. A 4/3 for one will almost always be worth a card. So the real question is - is it worth a card to deal 4 damage for a red? It's not quite Flame Slash good in a control deck, or as great top deck as Thunderous Wrath but better than Thunderbolt or Lava Axe . 19. Scute Mob Not a true one drop. But by turn six hopefully you are going get a hydra-like insect that will quickly get insanely huge if not dealt with. My biggest issue is that it doesn't have trample. It's still a great costed creature that can do some work if unchecked. There are lots of ways to give it Trample in Green not named Rancor . 18. Dragonmaster Outcast And yet another non-true o...
