If he's here, who's running hell?

YouTube - Mr. Terrific & Lois Lane Beach Fight It just makes me smile. James Gunn's music in his movies have some bangers and this is top two. I won't discuss Guardians since that might be a future movie scene but I enjoy James Gunn for the most part. Slither and Super were both solid, but nothing groundbreaking. Peacemaker is a good show with the best intro ever maybe. The Suicide Squad was so much better than the original. I never took any of his stupid tweets seriously, so I was sad Marvel fired him. The jury is still out on whether that was a correct move. Superman might have made $125M to $150M but then Supergirl lost $150M - $200M. I've never re-watched this movie. Just by writing this post, I'm gaining an appreciation for it. I didn't love this movie and while I can't put a finger completely on it, there are some things that bug me. First I'm Zack Snyder truther, half his movies are either completely brilliant. Watchmen, 300, Man of Steel, Dawn of...

YouTube - Epiphany The world was robbed of Alan Rickman too soon. From the Sheriff of Nottingham, to Hans Gruber, to Snape looking on, he and his work was a treasure. He gets to play big bad here. Johnny Depp Todd has the Judge in his grasp and is interrupted. The judge vowing to never come again sends Mr. Todd into a vengeful wrath. It is by far my favorite part in this movie. The lead up is pretty good to get the whole picture and I enjoy their back and forth song. "First I think a shave", "The closest I've ever gave." YouTube - Pretty Women I'm really not much of a musical fan. This one has enough humor and darkness though that I can stomach it and what it's ultimately trying to preach. Very typical Tim Burton. Always enjoyable, always a solid 4/5 for me. The middle part of this song is some of my favorite from the movie. "Who are we to deny it in here?" YouTube - What's the Sound of the World Out There The shaving contest scene might be...

YouTube - The Man in Black vs Inigo Montoya Another one of my favorite childhood movies that I still love as an adult. Rip Rob Reiner. A movie where removing Fred Savage and Peter Falk would have made this movie much less annoying in places, "Do I really have to listen to the kissing part?" Huh Grandpa? It would have also probably made the movie quite a bit darker in tone. Sounds like a real fun project actually.  The fight scene is perfect from the choreography to the acting, soundtrack, pacing, writing. "Who are you?" "No one of consequence." "I must know." "Get used to disappointment." Westley has to face off against Vizzini, hired by Prince Humperdinck to capture Buttercup, aka The Princess Bride. He does this to start some kind of a WAR With Guilder, which they never explain why that would be a good thing for anyone including Humperdinck.  After besting Inigo, Westley aka The Man in Black faces off against Andre the Giant aka Fezz...

YouTube - Colonial Marines Prep Before Drop Aliens was one of first favorite movies ever. I loved everything from the creatures themselves to the film's setting to all the humans raging from heroine Ripley, child Newt, Company Man but rat-fuck son-of-a-bitch Burke, new Lieutenant Gnorman, Sergeant Apone, clown Hudson or is it Hicks, and the rest of the marines. This scene is my favorite, the score does a ton of work admittedly, as does Apone. "Absolutely Badasses!" James Cameron, the bravest pioneer, sounds like had a hell of a time making the movie in the UK. Protests and firings were big issues onset. But Cameron left the franchise on top, on par or very close to the original. Alien 3 on the other hand was one of the most disappointing things I have ever watched in my life. I never wanted to turn a movie off after 30 seconds before. I think any of the scenes with the marines are rewatchable. I realize I'm going on a wild tagent by posting all these scenes, but I lov...

YouTube - Gandalf Frees Theoden I already did The Hobbit, but that was quite a bit different as those were all songs. Lord of the Rings Extended Edition is 12 hours of footage wrapped into 3 movies. I am able to pick my most rewatchable scene, but I love the whole thing. I don't know if I could give it much criticism if I tried. Gandalf and Frodo are awesome characters. Sam and Aragorn are real heroes. It's hard to fully understand what Sauron is truly capable of but the stakes are made very clear throughout from the first few lines, the Ring has gots to go. We hear little about Rohan in the first Fellowship movie. Theoden is not mentioned that I can remember nor the riders of Rohan, Eowyn, Grima. This introduction of Gandalf the White to Grima and Saruman controlled Theoden is the first glorious victory brought by the remains of the Fellowhip. Boromir died, Merry and Pippin were captured, Frodo was stabbed multiple times already and took off with Sam and Gollum behind them. Sa...

YouTube - He Gets On Base The perfect rewatchable scene movie. Moneyball might be the best baseball movie with as little as actual baseball as possible. Sure there are a few clips, slow motion plays and old news footage but nothing shown from Pitt's Beane' point of view. It's sort of like Major League but the main character is a rightfully scorned former player turned GM, instead of a vengeful coach and team. There are many rewatchable scenes, but the whole movie has almost like these minor intermissions, sometimes just music playing to baseball or something about Billy Beane's career. Rewatchable scenes include where Peter Brand is explaining to Pitt's character how teams should buy wins, not players. YouTube - Beane meets Brand How many assessments did you do? 47, actually 51. I don't know why I lied just there. Feels like Jonah Hill should have done his pitch better before he got hired. YouTube - Peter Brand's First Day The second best thing in the movie ...

YouTube - Matthew McConaughey Chest Thumping I honestly haven't watched this movie a second time. I don't think it was that good at all or good enough where I feel like I need to re-watch it. I love Leo and Matthew though, so if I were to redo either filmography, this movie fits there. And I love this scene, it sails beyond any other here.  Matthew McConaughey's chest thumping was his own idea. The humming was inspired by McConaughey's real life pre performance ritual. He has described using humming and chest thumping as a way of getting himself into a relaxed, focused state before performing. DiCaprio was already deeply invested in the scene, but McConaughey's improvised behavior threw him off in a way that helped create the natural reaction you see from Jordan. The scene helped establish Hanna immediately. McConaughey only appears in a handful of scenes, but this lunch is essentially Jordan's introduction to the Wall Street lifestyle he's about to embrace....
