100 Movies - Number 2! (41-50)

Honorable Mention:  X-Men First Class
Photobucket
Genre - Action-Fantasy
Notable Cast - Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, James McAvoy
Synopsis - Mutants become the focus of the Cuban missile crises.
What I think - Given the very short timeline for this movie and the fact that 1/3 of the characters are pretty much made up, they did really good with this. I like the lack of Wolverine - as X3 was basically a Wolverine movie and the Wolverine origin movie itself wasn't great. Most of the cast is likable though it's Kevin Bacon and to a certain extent Fassbender who make this awesome.
Interesting fact - First few minutes of the movie the exact same as X-Men 1
How much did this movie make - 1.02 to everyone in the US

50. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Photobucket
Genre - Comedy
Notable Cast - Shannon Elizabeth, Eliza Dushku, Will Ferrell
Synopsis - Jay and Silent Bob get made into a movie and the real Jay and Bob go to Hollywood to stop it
What I think - I have a distorted picture of this movie since it was the first Kevin Smith movie I ever watched - even prior to Clerks. So I didn't really get it. It takes watching all the previous work to really like it. The monkey does nothing for me, but Will Ferrell is good as are all the cameos. Bottom line: funny thoughtful movie if you like the Jay character and have seen all the other Kevin Smith ones.
Interesting fact - 248 F-Bombs
How much did this movie make - 1 and a half million thanksgiving turkeys

49.  Real Steel
Photobucket
Genre - Action-Sci-Fi
Notable Cast - Hugh Jackman, Shawn Levy(D)
Synopsis - A fighter turned controller struggles with fighting while reconnecting with his son.
What I think - Jackman's character was extremely unlikable. He was also pretty terrible at robot fighting through 90% of the irksome movie. If you like Rocky, robots or underdog stories then it's worth a watch but otherwise I don't know what's too great here. The boxing at the end of the movie was pretty good.
Interesting fact - Filmed in the Model T Automobile plant in Highland Park near Detroit
How much did this movie make - 542 bridges

48.  Midnight in Paris
Photobucket
Genre - Fantasy-Romance
Notable Cast - Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Woody Allen (D)
Synopsis - A young couple in Paris begin to go in different directions
What I think - Time travel esque movie where Wilson goes back in time to meet authors and artists. Most of the commentary was decent and it ended pretty nicely. McAdam's character turns really horrible way too fast. Witty and Wilson is entertaining enough to carry the majority of the movie even if you don't catch everything.
Interesting fact - 49 Oscar nominations
How much did this movie make - Yankee Alex Rodriguez's salary 5 times

47. Religulous
Photobucket
Genre - Documentary-Comedy
Notable Cast - Bill Maher, Larry Charles (D)
Synopsis - Bill Maher goes on the attack against organized religion
What I think - Maher is usually blatant and relentless when it comes to religion. Here he explains what he believes - The Gospel of I don't know. Entertaining to me since I have similar beliefs. It would obviously be a hard sell for people who aren't fans of his. Firm take with little looking at things from another perspective. The best parts are when he's entertaining the people that are out there - a truck stop church and a man who dresses up as Jesus at a theme park.
Interesting fact - The film used the fake working title "A Spiritual Journey" in order to obtain interviews with religious leaders. They did not know that Bill Maher was involved in the film until he arrived for the interviews.
How much did this movie make - 56,000 pieces of nice antique folk art.

46. Drive
Photobucket
Genre - Crime-Drama
Notable Cast - Ryan Gosling, Ron Perlman, Bryan Cranston
Synopsis - A stuntman getaway driver gets his life turned when he meets a neighbor.
What I think - Huge expectations for this, though was spotty. Entertainment seemed to go up and down. There were only a few scenes which were really good - the best being the opening. After that I didn't care as much as I should have for the characters. Gosling is an amazing driver, but he's much more of a hero than that(and doesn't use guns). The movie makes a strange gang connection near the beginning and instead of playing off that storyline they take the movie in a completely different direction. Oscar Isaac was a nice surprise.
Interesting fact - Gosling, Scorpio in real life, wears a Scorpion jacket.
How much did this movie make - 16 million pumpkins

45.  Chronicle
Photobucket
Genre - Sci-Fi-Thriller
Notable Cast - None that I know of
Synopsis - Three teens stumble upon an unidentified substance in the woods, and they begin to exhibit powers.
What I think - I was extremely worried about the hand-held style - Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity, Blair Witch...etc. as I have never gotten into those movies as it kind of takes you out. This movie though was tolerable. They do some interesting things with the camera. The supposed main character while charismatic, goes off the deep end too quickly. The student president gets thrust into the movie with no real relationship to the other two prior to the incident. Amusing, with a turn that should be copied/watched.
Interesting fact - Toned down to a PG-13 from an R with a death scene removed.
How much did this movie make - 3.47 million Blink 182 concert tickets

44.  Austin Powers International Man of Mystery
Photobucket
Genre - Comedy
Notable Cast - Mike Myers, Elizabeth Hurley, Seth Green
Synopsis - A British agent agrees to have himself frozen and finds himself awoken 30 years later to face his enemy.
What I think - Energetic spoof on James Bond. Hits a lull 3/4 of the way into the movie, but it's a good ride in general. Dr. Evil is funny with his board of evil henchmen. So despite the concept getting old and one or two scenes which bring the movie down it has some great ideas.
Interesting fact - The father and son from the group therapy scene are the same father and son from the 'I love you man! You're not getting my Bud Light'
How much did this movie make - 5% of a brand new freeway

43.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Photobucket
Genre - Action Adventure
Notable Cast - Elias Koteas, Corey Feldman
Synopsis - Turtles meet up with April and Casey and battle the footclan while trying to rescue their mentor.
What I think - They do a bang up job on the comic. It doesn't look bad - the later movies look worse. That goes for Shredder as well as the Turtles. Soundtrack is great. Casey Jones is entertaining. The fighting is clever. The Danny/father storyline is the only thing too out of place. They create a redemption character for someone that we really don't care about.
Interesting fact - Highest grossing independent movie of all time
How much did this movie make - 404 thousand diamond necklaces

42.  Spiderman 3
Photobucket
Genre - Action-Fantasy
Notable Cast - Tobey Maguire, James Franco, Topher Grace
Synopsis - Spider-Man goes up against Sandman and Harry while finding a new alien symbiote
What I think - Too many enemies. Venom is cheesy. But the dancing scene. Oh the dancing in this movie is just so out of place. It was successful riding SM2, but just tried to do too many things. I do like what they did with Harry/Green Goblin.
Interesting fact - Grace and Church gained a combined 50 pounds of muscle for their villain roles
How much did this movie make - 445 Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurants

41. Law Abiding Citizen
Photobucket
Genre - Crime-Thriller
Notable Cast - Gerard Butler, Jamie Foxx
Synopsis - When his wife and daughter are killed, a man takes revenge on the justice system.
What I think - Real great surprise revenge movie. Starts off gritty, but blindsides you with a clever twisting story. I didn't like the ending as I really thought Butler's character needed that one more step.
Interesting fact - The movie was filmed in an actual prison that was still taking in inmates. During certain times of the day, the inmates would be transferring into the prison and looking confused as to why there was filming equipment all over the place.
How much did this movie make - 3,600 artificial legs

50 Favorite Adult Swim Characters

I tried to get a good variety and yet be fair to what I like the most. I'm sure there are one I've missed and some that might be surprising but if it aired on Adult Swim - I can use it. I didn't use any characters from either Robot Chicken or Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! as they are basically clip shows and while good, the re-occurring characters aren't used enough. Also, it turns out H. Jon Benjamin is the voice for half these shows. 50. Chains     Fat Guy Stuck in Internet 49. Assy McGee    Assy McGee H. Jon Benjamin plays the mayor. 48. Vexing Devil Giving an opponent a choice is never a good idea. However I really feel like it's win win here in the aggressive deck. A 4/3 for one will almost always be worth a card. So the real question is - is it worth a card to deal 4 damage for a red? It's not quite Flame Slash good in a control deck, or as great top deck as Thunderous Wrath but better than Thunderbolt or Lava Axe . 19. Scute Mob Not a true one drop. But by turn six hopefully you are going get a hydra-like insect that will quickly get insanely huge if not dealt with. My biggest issue is that it doesn't have trample. It's still a great costed creature that can do some work if unchecked. There are lots of ways to give it Trample in Green not named Rancor . 18. Dragonmaster Outcast And yet another non-true o
