20. Good Will Hunting Genre - Drama Notable Cast - Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck Synopsis - A professor discovers that an janitor is also a math genius, and a therapist helps the young man confront the demons that are holding him back. What I think - Damon's character is one that we want to like, but he keeps making the wrong decisions. We want to see him succeed but he just can't get it together. It isn't until we get to Robin Williams that the movie takes the turn that we want. Pleasant movie to watch. I would have prefered the cliche finished ending, but the bar and therapy scenes more than make up for it. Interesting fact - Minnie Driver, who I hadn't seen in anything before was super cute. 30. 3:10 To Yuma Genre - Western Notable Cast - Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Ben Foster Synopsis - A rancher agrees to transport an outlaw while his gang are on their tails. What I think - Brings the western back with a good remake effort. A group captures Crowe's gangster character leader and wants to transport him to a train. Foster is terrific here. Crowe's character is almost bipolar - he is mostly calm and collected with bouts of killing people. He lets the sheriff capture him without a fight in the beginning which makes no sense. He saves the group from Indians at one point - and does kill the one guy in the movie we are really hating on. Bale's character gets the short end, and doesn't have to for the movie to be successful. His son who doesn't respect him decides to sneak out and join the group as well. Lots of things that are head scratchers, but baffling decisions aside... a good ride. 40. Men in Black 3 Genre - Comedy-Sci-Fi Notable Cast - Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin Synopsis - Agent J goes back in time to save his partner K and stop an escaped alien. What I think - Josh Brolin does an amazing Tommy Lee Jones. This movie ties up a loose end from MIB1 which I really enjoyed. It was much better than the last movie. But still has some fluffy parts/characters which are entertaining but for like a second. The bad guy and the guy who can see the future don't add too much. The biggest reason to see this is Smith as he does his thing here. Interesting fact - Tommy Lee Jones refuses to work with clothing labels. Honorable Mention:  X-Men First Class Genre - Action-Fantasy Notable Cast - Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, James McAvoy Synopsis - Mutants become the focus of the Cuban missile crises. What I think - Given the very short timeline for this movie and the fact that 1/3 of the characters are pretty much made up, they did really good with this. I like the lack of Wolverine - as X3 was basically a Wolverine movie and the Wolverine origin movie itself wasn't great. Most of the cast is likable though it's Kevin Bacon and to a certain extent Fassbender who make this awesome.
